Born at Oakengates to parents Thomas Hargreaves and Nancy (nee Hoyle) he married Anna Maria Harland in 1846 and they had 5 children, Fanny Helena 1847-1917, Reginald 1848-1849, Reginald 1849-1849, Emma Caroline 1850-1931 & Reginald Gervis 1852-1926.
He died in Rome and whilst I have no record that his body was transported back in a book about Alice (Liddell) in Wonderland, his Daughter in Law, it mentions Alice's Husband Reginald Gervis Hargreaves Obituary (Johnathan's Son) and says "has having married "Alice in Wonderland" and he was buried in the Hargreaves family grave with his Father and Mother in the cemetery of Lyndhurst Parish Church". (which is aka St Michael and All Angels Churchyard) (page 229 of "The Real Alice" by Anne Clarke).
So his remains must have been brought back from Rome. They were wealthy enough to have this done.
