Milton "Doobie" Cooper, 59, passed away on June 30, 2020, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on February 2,1961 to the late Dollie and Thomas Cooper, Milton grew up in Hampton, VA. He graduated from Phoebus High School in 1979 and earned his Associates Degree from the National Business College (NBC) of Roanoke. Milton continued his education at Bowie State University, in Maryland, and later earned a baccalaureate degree from the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) in Washington, DC.

After college, established himself as an esteemed sales professional. He relocated to Rocky Mount, North Carolina where he went on to work for Bobby Murray Toyota and Rocky Mount Toyota for over 20 years, earning multiple distinctions as salesperson of the month and a 10-year Toyota Professional Retail Outstanding Salesperson (PROS).

He was an avid sports fan as well as a great athlete playing multiple sports in high school, including basketball and track and field. He continued playing basketball in college at NBC, Bowie State University and UDC. Outside of sports, he had a deep love for politics, American and presidential history and he always welcomed a great debate. Most important to Milton, was the time he spent with his best friend and wife, Julia. He was a proud father and beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and son-in-law.

Milton leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Julia Cooper and daughter Marteen Bryant; one sister, Linda Bunn of Hampton, VA, five brothers, George Cooper and wife Joyce of Newport News, VA, Darryl Cooper and wife Debbie of Tampa, FL, Michael Cooper and wife Vandhalia of Upper Marlboro, MD, Charles Cooper of Petersburg, VA, Bruce Richardson and wife Carolyn of Rocky Mount, NC, sister-in-law LaWanda Cooper of Newport News, VA, as well as four nephews and three nieces. Milton was preceded in death by his brother Gerard Cooper; brother-in-law, Louis Bunn; and mother-in-law, Mary C. Bryant.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 8th at Johnson's Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 PM. A private memorial will be held for the family, friends and close associates. In lieu of flowers and food, condolences may be remitted at the visitation, sent to the family home or mailed to Julia Cooper [c/o Johnson's Funeral Home, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804].
