He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, hiking and kayaking. David was a proud and loving father to son Samuel ("Sam"), who would accompany his father on many outdoor excursions. He was a volunteer firefighter with Buena Vista Fire Department. Additionally, he served as a wildland firefighter. David was a former resident of Wadley, a Randolph County volunteer firefighter and employed by Wellborn Cabinet Company.
Survivors include his spouse, Jackie Krueck, and son, Samuel Curtis McGill, of Buena Vista, Colo.; brothers, Robert W. McGill (Maritza) of Tallahassee, Fla., and Samuel P. McGill (Melissa) of Willow, Alaska; sister, Karen E. McGill (Jordan) of Englewood, Colo.; aunt, Juanita Bailey of LaGrange, Ga.; uncle, Larry Whiteside of Clifton, Va.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. David was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis B. and Carolyn Whiteside McGill of Wadley.
