Joyce Sullivan Webb ~ February 25, 1954 – May 27, 2022

Joyce Webb passed away on May 27, 2022, from complications of a recently diagnosed lung disease.

Joyce was born in St. George, Utah to Evan Hal and Leila Barber Sullivan.

She was the cutest little redheaded baby that there ever was as she made her entrance into this world. She certainly was the firecracker of the family and lived up to her redhead reputation. With some of her redheaded friends, she founded the infamous 'Redhead Club of Dixie High School.'

Joyce loved her school years at East Elementary, Woodward Junior High, and especially Dixie High School where she was one of the movers and shakers spending Thursday nights creating the Flyer Flash newspaper as editor and writing skits and assemblies with the 'Golden Girls' who have remained dear friends through the years. She was a Dixie High Jetette til the day she threw her wiglet on the gym floor and stomped off in grand Jetette style.

Joyce attended Dixie College where she was a Rebelette (they didn't wear wiglets) and active on campus. She went to BYU for her bachelor's degree, then onto the University of Utah where she earned her master's degree in counseling. Her first job was a counselor at Timpview High School. She was excited when she was able to come home and work as a counselor at Dixie Middle School, then Dixie High School and then Pineview Middle School. She loved all of "her kids" and they loved her. She has stayed close to many of them through the years.

Joyce met Jay Webb at the Enterprise rodeo the summer of 1982. They were married in the St. George Temple on April 8, 1983. She became mom to Jay's two children, Jennifer, and Jayson. She and Jay adopted Jayne in 1985 and then baby Jarrett on February 15, 1989. She loved being a mom but especially loved being a grandma to nine grandkids and two great grandkids.

Joyce was an avid reader. We all know her favorite book was Gone with the Wind until she discovered the Outlander series…all eight of them, which she read at least three times and fell in love with Jamie (Sam Heughan) in the TV series. Joyce loved her beautiful built-in bookcases where she kept some of the books she has read – some of them several times. One of her favorite quotes was:
"Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read",
Groucho Marx.

Joyce is survived by her children Jennifer, Jayson, Jayne, and Jarrett; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Sheryl (Clark, deceased), Jillyn (Randy) Reber, Bruce (Gaye), and lots of nieces, nephews that adore her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jay Webb, parents Hal and Leila Sullivan, brother Clark Sullivan (memorial 9017168), and brother-in-law Scott Wells (memorial 23017787).

She requested that there be no funeral. There will be a viewing on Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am at the Washington City Cemetery, 300 Park View Drive, Washington, Utah.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate your favorite book to a school, library, or 'lil neighborhood library' of your choice.
