David Eugene Baker, 71, of McAlester, Oklahoma, passed peacefully on May 26, 2022. He was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on March 13, 1951 to the late Barton Winford Baker and Wanda Evans Baker.

David was a loving and generous father, husband, Papa, Poppy and friend to all.
D He graduated from Gotebo High School in the class of 1969. He was married to Patricia Melton-Baker. Together they owned a mining business in Southeastern Oklahoma.

David was a very kind and caring man. He loved his family and friends. David was always willing to help the people who needed him and always had a smile on his face. He loved to tell stories about all the good times from Oklahoma, Texas, Europe, Mexico and many more countries he and Patty traveled. David was a member of Team Shelby Racing. He had a passion for anything with fast motors. He enjoyed going to NASCAR races, car shows, drag races and boat shows. He and Patty also enjoyed visiting their home in Puerto Vallarta, where he would deep sea fish as often as he could, walk the marinas all day exploring the amazing yachts and going on the search to find the hottest salsa he could find around town!

David loved his sports. Dallas Cowboys were definitely on during the football season as well as the OU Sooners football games on Saturdays. Boxing was a special love he had, so much so that he purchased a car off of the Great James "Lights Out" Toney. He often played the piano in the evenings to relax and unwind. He will be definitely missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Barton and Wanda Baker, brother, Barton Wayne Baker, sisters, Elizabeth Johns and Cynthia Beadles.

David is survived by his wife, Patricia Melton-Baker, son John (Amanda) Baker, son Steve Baker, son Darrell (Holly) Stachmus, daughter Andi Stachmus (T.) Stewart, daughter Kristin Baker and nine loving grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a niece, five nephews and extended family
