Don's family moved to California in 1937 and moved back to Denver in 1942. Don graduated from West High School in 1948 and was an Eagle Scout. He went to CSU for a semester but came back to Denver when his father left his mother Natalie. He got a job to help support them. He met Louise who at the time was dating Daryl. One day Daryl brought over a friend who Louise said was "cute". That was Don and they began dating to Daryl's dismay. In 1951 Don was drafted and that is when he and Louise decided to get married. Don and Louise were married at St. Francis de Sales on January 7, 1951. In 1955 they had a son.
Don enjoyed sports. He was a good skier, enjoyed car races, and went camping and fishing whenever he could. Don and Louise would go to as many of the kid's ball games and sporting events they could (the grand kids, nieces, and nephew's ball games / gymnastics). Don really enjoyed Wyoming. So much so that he purchased a home in Saratoga Wyoming where the family still spends time in the Spring, Summer, and Fall as much as possible (snowmobilers in the winter), thanks to Don. Don and Louise were local sports supporters as well, especially the Broncos. Don and Louise have held season tickets to the Broncos since they were in the AFL and it has become a family tradition for three generations (working on that 4th).
