Donald Ray "Don" Thomas, age 86, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
Visitation will be at 10:00 am Friday, May 27, 2022 at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Henrietta, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am with Elder Terry Patton with Wanderers Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Odell, Texas, officiating and Wesley Pickens, assisting. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Don was born on February 23, 1936 to Caudell T. and Emma B. Thomas in the family home located Kirkland, Texas. Don grew up on the family farm and attended Kirkland High School. Don honorably served in the United States Army Reserve 1960 – 1968 being called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis of 1961. He married Ima Loy Thomas on February 18, 1956 in a small ceremony in the home of his in-laws in South Oak Cliff, a suburb of Dallas, TX at the time. He worked construction for a short period of time in Dallas before moving to Wichita Falls. Don became employed by Texas Electric Service Co., later known as TU Electric, as a lineman. He spent his working career with Texas Electric Service Co./TU Electric for thirty-eight years. He opted for an early retirement offer in 1994.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerome E. Thomas and Teddy E. Thomas and his sister Peggy Joyce Dudley.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ima Loy Thomas; son Coy and wife, Lynne of Lawrenceville, GA; granddaughters Hannah and Bethany Thomas of Huntsville, AL.
