Guy Burnett, Jr., 72, peacefully passed away at his home in Helotes, Texas, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, October 3, 2021.
Guy was born on Wednesday, April 20, 1949, in Cleveland, Mississippi, to Lt. Col. Guy Burnett and Narrine (Brown) Burnett.
As an Air Force brat, Guy and his younger sister Karey (Dennis Lawrence) grew up in places such as California, Hawaii, and Japan, before the family settled in Euless, Texas. He graduated in 1967 from L.D. Bell High School in Bedford, Texas, dreaming of playing professional golf, then attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned a degree in architecture. For more than four decades, Guy designed and built custom homes in the Texas Hill Country.
He is survived by his best friend, confidant, and wife of 50 years, Martha (Russell) Burnett; two children -- Katheryn and William (Sofia Ramsey); and two grandchildren -- Lauren and Howard.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Helotes Hills United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Habitat for Humanity or the American Cancer Society.
