Joyce Elaine Johnson, 90, of Newaygo, passed away on May 28, 2022 in Muskegon, Michigan. She was born on July 19, 1931 to Charles and Celia (Nelson) Christenson in Newaygo, Michigan, She graduated from Newaygo High School in 1949. On April 17, 1952 she married Carl D. Johnson in Newaygo, Michigan. Joyce worked as a Billing Clerk for Gerber Memorial Hospital until her retirement. She loved to quilt, garden, paint and be with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joyce is survived by two sons: Charles (Carol Nickles) Johnson of Newaygo, Steven Johnson of Newaygo; two daughters: Kathy Johnson of Newaygo, Sue Johnson of Newaygo; daughter-in-law Mary Johnson of Newaygo; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her sister-in-law Linnea Godfrey and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl D. Johnson, son Doug Johnson, 3 sisters, and 1 brother. Visitation will be held Friday, June 3, 2022, 10:00 am - 11:00 am with funeral services at 11:00 am at the Fields-McKinley Funeral and Cremation Services Newaygo Chapel. Burial will take place in the Newaygo Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Harbor Hospice, 1050 W Western Ave Ste 400, Muskegon, MI 49441.
