Robert G. Samuels, of South Bend, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 9:41 a.m. He was born to the late Francis and Mary (Colpitts) Samuels on August 17, 1953, in South Bend and remained a lifelong resident of the area.
Robert worked as an aircraft machinist for A Quality in the 1970's, and then went on to work for South Bend Precision and then as a machine operator with Federal Mogul.
Robert was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He spent many years snowmobiling in Michigan or hunting in Kingsbury. He also had a passion for antique cars but held a special place for his pride and joy his Indianapolis pace car a 1995 Corvette. Robert also loved to spend time with his friends meeting for their morning coffee at Martins.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Betsy A. Vogel of Mishawaka, Mary E. (David) Watkins of Osceola, son, William C. (Angela) Samuels of South Bend, along with 4 grandchildren, Victoria Rose Vogel, James Wayne Vogel II, Louis Robert Vogel, and Kaylee Marie Watkins. He also leaves behind a sister, Lori (Chris) Sobieralski, brother, Richard (Chris Samuels-Wade) Samuels. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert G. Samuels II, and brothers, John Samuels and Thomas Samuels.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Southlawn Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
