Jack Wayne Snider, 69, of Oblong, IL passed away on Sunday May 29, 2022 at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
He was born in Oblong, IL on April 27, 1953 to Ralph Thad and Blanch (Shook) Snider. He married Patti Shute, who preceded him in death. On January 1, 2000 he married Carolyn Yager Snider, who survives.

Jack was a lifelong farmer of the sesquicentennial family farm. During and after high school he worked at Monte Eagle Mills and spent two years working for the Crawford County Highway Dept. He served as the Licking Township road commissioner from 1980 to present. He was the owner of a gun shop, Snider Sporting Goods, since 1978. He loved shooting guns and gunsmithing. He was a member of the Oblong High School class of 1971 and attended several classes in Junior College. He had lived in Texas for 2 years where he helped build an aircraft hanger for Jimmy Dean.

He was a lifelong member of the North American Hunting Club, A member of NRA, Whitetails Unlimited, NWTF. He was a board member of the Oblong Antique Engine and Tractor Association since the beginning and was in charge of the Antique tractor pull every year. He also served on the Prairie Licking Fire Dept for many years.He enjoyed being a pilot and taking everyone on wild rides. He enjoyed attending concerts with his wife, family and grandchildren. He enjoyed pulling antique tractors in the 80's and 90's and enjoyed taking his sons Jason and Jeremy fishing, deer, squirrel, mushroom hunting and riding ATV's. He enjoyed doing all those things with his grandchildren also but would do anything the grandkids wanted. If it was too nasty outside they would play hide the quarter in the house. Jack was a perfectionist, a great mechanic, and could fix anything. Jack enjoyed playing 42 at the Snider store with all the friends and family. He enjoyed making wine and any other spirits.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Snider, Oblong, IL; two sons Jason Snider and his significant other Courtney Mendenhall, Oblong, IL, Jeremy and Tiffany Snider, Oblong, IL, and a step daughter Cassy and Scott Goodwin, Oblong, IL; four grandchildren, Alayna and Wyatt Snider and Chance and Jasper Goodwin. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law Russell and Nancy Snider, Robinson, IL and a sister and brother-in-law Virginia and Charlie Ammons, Oblong, IL along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. An Uncle, Raymond & Cheryl Shook of Greenup, IL and Aunt, Carol Shook of Oblong, IL.

Preceding him in death were his parents and nephew Greg Snider.

Celebration of Jack's Life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday June 6, 2022 at the First Christian Church in Oblong, IL. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. on Sunday June 5, 2022 at the First Christian Church in Oblong, IL. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Oblong High School FFA or the Oblong Antique Tractor and Engine Association with envelopes available at the church or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O.
