261 Private Herbert John White, 5th Contingent Queensland Imperial Bushmen. From Gympie, Queensland, Australia. Volunteered for service in South Africa during the Second Anglo Boer War. He was accidentally killed at Tabakplaats, about 60km south east of Pietersburg (Polokwane), Transvaal. He is also commemorated on the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour at Treloar Crescent, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia and on the Brisbane Boer War Memorial in Anzac Square, Ann Street, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia (see: https://vwma.org.au/explore/memorials/2756).
