She was born in Terre Haute, IN on May 29, 1942 at St. Anthony's Hospital the daughter of Henry Albin and Helen Jean (Melcho) Kress.
Suzanne married H. Richard Hawkins on July 22, 1961 and he survives.
Suzanne was a 1960 graduate of Schulte High School in Terre Haute and a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church. A career in banking led to her employment at the Peru Trust Company, Frances Slocum Bank and First Merchant's Bank. She was a member of the Jefferson Township Home Economics Club, a Miami County Master Gardener, the Altar and Rosary Society and an active member of the Caring Hearts Ministry.
Surviving in addition to her husband Dick, is a daughter Lynda (Kevin) Kennedy, sons Vern (Deana), Brian (Kimberly) and John Paul (Cindy); grandchildren Kevin Kennedy, Jr., Justin Kennedy, Andrew (Shannen) Kennedy, Clayton Hawkins, Hailey Hawkins, Zachary (Kari) Hawkins, Kolton Hawkins, Christian Hawkins and Carly Hawkins; great grandchildren Allissia, Alleia and Jordan; and sisters Mary Kay Kress, JoAnn (Rich) Foli, Margie (Ken) Wooten and Alice (Jeff) Prothero.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Anthony Kress.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Suzanne M. Hawkins will be held on Thursday, 10:30 AM, June 2, 2022 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 58 W. 5th St., Peru with Rev. Kyle Neterer officiating.
Burial will follow at Ever Rest Memorial Park. Friends and family will gather from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main St., Peru. A prayer service will follow at 8:00 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Miami County Helping Hands.
