March 1, 1984 - May 20, 2022
Samuel J. Tilden Wright IV, son of Samuel J. Tilden Wright III and Jennifer Joan Adams Wright was born March 1, 1984, a leap year, at Wise, Virginia. He entered eternal life Friday, May 20, 2022 at his home on Book Drive, Mayking, Kentucky, being 38 years and 80 days of age at his passing.

Sam T was an avid reader with thousands of books in his personal library. His love of experiencing life led him to food, and he worked in restaurants ranging from fast food to one of the finest dining establishments in Lexington. Sam attended culinary school and loved to bake unusual, beautiful and delicious foods. He was the best source for excellent restaurants around the world. However, though he loved to feed people, he found he didn't like being shut up in the kitchen while others ate. He found a different career. Sam's love of learning, zealous research, and logical mind led him to study computers and work in information technology. He was working on developing a nonprofit to help local people enter and keep technology jobs.

Sam T's love of experiencing life led him to snow skiing, starting at age 5. He was a certified rock climbing instructor. Sam helped to design the climbing wall and instructed rock climbing at the Letcher County Recreational Center. He was also a certified scuba diver. He dove with sharks, whales, and of course, with his brother. While diving a wreck he once came face to face with a sea turtle the size of a Volkswagen. This past January, Sam filmed a 12-foot-wide, 1200-pound manta ray that glided a foot over his head.

Sam T's great, loving spirit has always been protective and caring. When his mother was diagnosed with cancer, Sam brought her supper and books every night, sat with her, and took care of her. Both his grandfather and grandmother knew they could always rely on him, called him in emergencies or just for company.
Sam T is survived by his very proud and loving parents, Samuel J. Tilden Wright III and Jennifer Joan Adams Wright; his beloved Brother, John Alexander Wright, with whom he shared so many adventures; and a host of friends and family to mourn his passing.
