Edward Lee Thompson, 94, of Piggott, Arkansas, passed away December 9, 2021, at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on April 27, 1927, in Piggott, Arkansas, and was the son of Louie and Lela (Allman) Thompson.

Edward was united in marriage to June Ella Haywood on February 3, 1951, and to this union five children were born.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June Ella Thompson; son, Martie Thompson; father, Louie Thompson; mother, Lela Thompson; brother, Billy Thompson; and sister, Ruth Tanner.

Ed served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He later served in the United States Air Force Reserve retiring as MSGT in 1987.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 38 and VFW Post 4517. He was a Past Master of Piggott Masonic Lodge #545 and dual member of the Eastern Star Masonic Lodge #207. He loved his lawn mowers, taking care of the Williams Cemetery and most of all his family.

Edward is survived by his two daughters, Debra Redford of Piggott, Arkansas, Tammy and husband David Lyman of Piggott, Arkansas; two sons, Anthony Thompson of Piggott, Arkansas, Kyle Ray Thompson and wife Kelly of Moscow Mills, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Melissa Shannon and husband Dan, Matthew Redford, Anthony Thompson, Jr., Joseph Thompson, Kacy Lyman, Shawn Lyman and wife Emily, Carly Thompson Schierding and husband Jake, Kennedy Thompson, Kyle Edward Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Kayla, Jessi, Tyson, and Emmett; one sister-in-law, Betty Thompson; and many other relatives and friends.

Masonic Services will be held Monday, December 13, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. in Hoggard & Sons Chapel with funeral service immediately following with Bro. Kevin Murray officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Melissa Shannon, Shawn Lyman, Kyle Edward Thompson, Jacob Schierding, David Lyman, and Dan Shannon. Honorary pallbearers will be Kacy Lyman, Carly Thompson, and Kennedy Thompson. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation is Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to St. Jude Research Hospital, Piggott Masonic Lodge # 545, or Williams Cemetery Association.
