Richard Dale Young, age 86, of Brady, Texas passed away Friday, May 6, 2022 in Brady, Texas. Richard or "Uncle Richard" as he was known to family and friends was born April 7, 1936 in Rochelle, Texas to George Dewey Young and Lilly Belle (Anders) Young. He grew up in Brady and graduated from Brady High School. Richard operated the Southside Gulf station for several years before going into electric work. He was a Master Electrician and worked for Bill Dodds Electrical Contractors for several years and then for YZ Electrical Contractors for many years supervising their military housing contracts. He enjoyed fishing, dominoes and traveling. He cherished his nieces and nephews. He was a lifelong resident of Brady. He was a longtime member of the Central Baptist Church in Brady and also an ordained deacon for many years.
A memorial service for Richard Dale Young will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady with Reverend Buck Yousey officiating. Interment will follow at Rochelle Cemetery in Rochelle. Friends may view Richard's Memorial Video Tribute and/or sign his online memorial guest book at www.leatherwoodmemorialchapels.com.
Richard is survived by his nieces Michele, Pam & Sandra and his nephews Paul, Dana Dewey Jr., Donnie, Ronnie, Dennis and Michael. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Otha Dean Young, P.W. Young and Dewey Wayne Young, Sr., sister Velma Louise Lawrence and nephews Steve Lawrence and Scott Young. He was also survived by special friends Courtney Williams and Bob White.
