Shirley Rozana Brown was born on June 12, 1951 in Chicago, IL to J.C. and Roberta Brown.

Shirley attended elementary school in Chicago until the family moved to Buchanan, MI. She graduated from Buchanan High School in June 1968. After high school, she went on to work at a local bank.

Shirley accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, and she was an active member of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church in Buchanan. She lived out her faith by opening her home to two adopted children.

For decades, Shirley battled multiple sclerosis; a fight that was complicated by diabetes and other medical conditions. At 1:35 a.m. (eastern) on May 16, 2022 in Benton Harbor, MI. Shirley rejoined her original caregiver, Roberta.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Roberta Bishop; her father, J.C. Brown; her step father, Ellis Bishop (128468559); and her sister, Beverly Brown.

She is survived by a son, Cody Daniel Brown; a daughter, Tanya (Javonie) Milam; 2 granddaughters, Kiana Nicole Brown, Calista Rochelle Brown; one great grandson, Kingston Amir Brown; two brothers, David J. (Lita) Walker, and Albert E. Walker, Jr; one sister, Dorothy J. Nowlin; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life will be held from 12 – 2 pm on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
