Benjamin Franklin Taylor was the son of Stephen and Martha "Betty" Hila Arnold, he married Mary Ann Finley in 1854 in Arkansas. He was in Company K of the 21st Arkansas Infantry according to the muster roll. Records found written by Doctors J.W. Jones and J.L. Smith, practicing physicians of Izard County, state that they found him suffering from the effects of a wound which was caused by a mini ball which had penetrated in the muscle of the left shoulder and migrated downward under the clavicle through the thoracic cavity and into the abdominal cavity and had passed out underneath the ribs. They also state that they found him incapacitated to perform the nominal labor of an able bodied man to the extent of the loss of one arm.
