Alan Roy Monce

Alan Roy "Al" Monce of Springfield Oregon passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022.

Al was born to Ed and Effie Monce on February 22, 1933 in Detroit Michigan. His family moved to Southern California when Al was a young boy. He graduated from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles, California and attended Santa Monica College. Al enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1950 when he was 17 years old. He served honorably in the Korean War and was discharged in 1954. Following discharge from regular service, he served in the USMC Reserves until 1960. During his military service he received seven medals of honor and was a Purple Heart recipient.

Al spent close to 40 years in the commercial banking business in California and Oregon. He was a member of the Oregon Bankers Association and American Bankers Association. Throughout his banking career he received many awards and honors including an induction into the Oregon Bankers Hall of fame. He was also a member of the Rotary Club.

Al was a passionate sports fan starting at an early age. He enthusiastically followed all sports throughout his life. He also enjoyed reading and golfing. Above all, he loved his family and spending time with them.

Al is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nita Monce; his children, Michelle Sutton (Ron), Karen London (Dan), Nancy Gowins (Jerry), Lisa Lahmann, and Tom Weaverling; his grandchildren, Julie Brink, Daniel Wilkins, Jason Wilkins, Katie Wilkins Hillier, Kristin Lee, Daniel London, Jr., Adam London, Jonathan Gowins, Chelsey Gowins, Laura Rosborough, Alexandra Lahmann, and Cayden Lahmann; and his great grandchildren, Ian Brink, Dillion Brink, Amelia Wilkins, Henry Wilkins, Addie Lee, Bennett Lee, Penelope London, Theodore London, Quinn Gowins, Archer Gowins, Ella Vaille, Anthony Leate and DJ Leate.

Private graveside service was held on May 26, 2022 at Rest-Haven Memorial Park.
