Jerry W. Wilson, 82, of Atlanta, Kansas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 24, 2022, at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover.

Born April 15, 1940, in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Clarence and Rosena (Gordon) Wilson. Jerry was raised and received his education in Atlanta, graduating from Atlanta High School in 1958. Jerry married Hazel Morgan in 1959. The couple had three children and later divorced.

Jerry worked at Beech Aircraft for over 35 years. He met Carolyn (Pressgrove) Speagle at Beech. The couple was united in marriage at Art Wilson's home in Burden, Kansas, on April 28, 1979. They made their home in Atlanta. Jerry also worked in oil fields and for the Atlanta Co-op during Beech layoffs. Carolyn preceded him in death on December 14, 2019.

Jerry was an active member of the K&O Steam & Gas Engine Association. He was also a member of the Atlanta Christian Church. He enjoyed his tractor, doing home repairs, cutting wood, and watching KU basketball. He and Carolyn loved to take motorcycle trips when they were younger. Jerry was an avid gardener and grew a prize winning pumpkin that weighed over 400 pounds. He never missed a chance to play cards, and had a collection of hats, belt buckles, and coins.

His family includes his children, Lesa Kent; Bill Wilson and wife, Melanie; Mike Pressgrove and wife, Sonja; Angela Holland and husband, Jimmy; Joe Speagle; Andy Speagle and partner, Linsey; Kathy Speagle; his brothers, Jim Wilson; John Wilson; his 21 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and his K-9 companion Jack.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jerry was preceded in death by a son Tony Wilson and a son-in-law Mark Kent.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 3, 2022 at the Cornerstone Christian Church in Atlanta under the direction of Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Inurnment will follow at the Atlanta Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Jerry's name to help defray funeral expenses.
