Mrs. Griffith of Bristol, Va., passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, in Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was a beloved mother and homemaker, a long-time resident of Bristol, Va., and a member of Victory Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.B. Griffith; and a granddaughter, Eugenia Griffith.
Survivors include daughters, Patricia Millhorn Willis of Bristol, Tenn., Brenda Joyce Trivett of Bluff City and Sue Henley of Lenoir City, Tenn.; sons, Donald Williams of Blountville, George Edward Griffith of Houston, Texas, and Bill Griffith of Bristol, Va.; special son-in-law, Gene Willis; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Kirk of Marion, Beulah Compton of Honaker, Shirley Helton of Lebanon, Lois Whited of Lebanon, Peggy Taylor of Atlanta and Nellie Slate of Roanoke; and daughters-in-law, Faye Williams and Joy Griffith.
Funeral services for Leona Hughes Griffith will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday in Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Austin Cook and Rev. Charles McChesney officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers: Larry Southern, Patrick Southern, Jody Milhorn, Brian Henley, Cody Griffith, Andrew Southern and Cristopher Southern. Honorary pallbearer, Kenneth Artrip. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Weaver Funeral Home .Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
