Lisa LaNETTE Jones was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 13, 1963 to Hunter Percell and Jimmie Sue Jones. She was the granddaughter of New Mexico's Secretary of State, Beatrice Roach Gottlieb and the Great Granddaughter of New Mexico State Senator, Burton Roach.
Lisa dedicated her life to service. Lisa served with the U.S. Forest Service for 34 years, retiring as a G.S. 12 in 2022. While working as a forester Lisa, mentored many new foresters and inspired them with her love for and stewardship of the land. Her work also included fire dispatch, working to save forests and homes while protecting and supporting the firefighters on the front lines. Her service to others included; being a big sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, working as an educator for those with special needs in Katy, Texas and Grand Junction, Colorado, and serving as a camp counselor at Camp Cullen for children on dialysis. In addition to her service to children and to the land, Lisa served as the rock within her own family. As the oldest sister she provided inspiration and council to her siblings, researched and maintained the family history and provided support and care with her mother as her father fought his own battle with Lewy Body Dementia....
She passed away quietly in her home in Alamogordo New Mexico surrounded by her Mom and siblings in the early hours of May 12, 2022.
A family service will be held at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that trees be planted in Lisa's memory in New Mexico's Lincoln National Forest through www.alivingtribute.org.
She leaves the world a much better place than she found it, having changed the lives of all who knew her.
