Norma Mae (Allen) Calhoun of Braintree went home to be with her Lord on Monday, January 04, 2010. Beloved wife of James Lyal Calhoun of Braintree; devoted mother of four, loving sister of Irene Lutes of Peterborough, NH, and the late Fern Pfautz and Robert Allen; cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Norma was a lifetime member of the Church of the Nazarene. She and her husband Lyal pastored churches in Massachusetts, Maine and New York before they came to Eastern Nazarene College where he was a Professor of English and Norma worked in the College Bookstore. Their combined involvement in both the church and college provided them with many dear friends throughout the years. In 1982 they retired to West Harwich. Norma loved spending time at her home on the Cape enjoying the beach, knitting, crafts, and feeding the birds. Her family describes her as a loving wife, doting mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved the simple things in life. She blessed many lives with her open hospitality, and caring, thoughtful ways and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
