John W. Parker, 88 passed away peacefully on May 21, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. John was born March 29, 1934 in Cohoes, New York to the late Leo and Alice Parker. After high school he enlisted in the Navy and later returned home to help with his father's business. He was a longtime resident of Saratoga Springs and an employee of New York State retiring after 20 years of service to pursue his many interests. John was the founding president the National Bottle Museum in Ballston Spa, NY, a Master Gardener, an avid bonsai enthusiast, woodcarver, collector of antiques, traveler, a devout Christian, and a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John enjoyed people, loved life and made new friends everywhere he went. It wasn't unheard of for John to meet people while traveling who would become lifelong friends. He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 56 years Marie Parker; his children Jeannie (CV) Parker of Toronto, ON, Daniel (Karen) Lenthall of Gardner, MA, Susan Gevers of Henderson, NV, Nancy (Ally) Lenthall of Norfok, VA, Leo (Robin) Parker of Wilton, NY, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call from 9:00am to 11:00am Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373) followed by an 11:00am funeral home service. Burial will follow at 1:00pm at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy, NY. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to the American Heart Association in John's memory.
