Jerry Dean Adams, Jr., 60, of Anderson, died Friday, May 20, 2022, at his home.
Born in Aiken, S.C., he was a son of the late Jerry Dean Adams, and Patricia "Pat" Gilmer Adams.
Dean was a 1980 graduate of D.W. Daniel High School and was a Corrections Officer with the South Carolina Department of Corrections at Perry Correctional.
He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed in Seattle, Washington, aboard the USCGC Polar Star, our country's largest and heaviest ice cutting ship. His time on the ship took him to Antarctica and Australia, among other locations. He was a member of the Divver Masonic Lodge #349 (F.&A.M), where he was a Past Master. He was also an active member of New Prospect Baptist Church, where he sang in the Sanctuary Choir.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia "Pat" Gilmer Adams, his brother, Patrick Adams (Helen), nephews, Benjamin Adams and Reel Adams, and his niece, Dr. Austin Adams.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Diary Rd., Anderson, S.C. 29625. Rev. Bobby Watson will officiate. Burial, with Masonic Rites, will follow at Old Stone Church Cemetery, Clemson, S.C.
