She retired in 1992 from Wright Line after 25 years of service. Doris enjoyed sewing, painting, fishing and Facebook. She was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby and Byron Tompkins; a granddaughter, Misti Tompkins; a great-grandson, Austin Tompkins; a sister, Eula Britt and four brothers, Jonny, Liston, Dana and Jimmy Mew.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years; a daughter; two sons; a sister; a brother; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; great-great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Doris's life will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 12 p.m. in the Sechrest-Davis Funeral Chapel by Rev. Jeffery Burrow. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive at the funeral home Thursday from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m.
