Joyce E. Johnson, 81 of Sloan, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2002 at her residence.

Services will be held at the time of Interment will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley, Iowa at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.

Joyce Elaine Selken - Arnold - Johnson was born on April 22, 1941 in Hartley, Iowa the daughter of Everett and Wilma (Hasse) Selken. At the end of her Junior year the family moved to Vermillion, where she completed High School and graduated with the Class of 1959. On January 9, 1960 Joyce was married to Richard Arnold.

She worked part time at USD in the History department; upon moving to South Sioux City in 1965 she worked 17 years at IBP for various departments after which she joined Nutra Flo in the transportation department and retiring in June of 2005 to become the The River Bank "Plant Manger." On May 21, 2005 Joyce was married to Rodney Johnson on the banks of the Missouri River at the site of their not yet completed home.

Joyce enjoyed bird watching, doing crafts, making Afghans, crocheting, gardening, and photography.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney of Sloan, four daughters, Sherri (Wally Wallenberg) Christensen of Sioux Falls, Brenda (Russ Kramer) Denny of South Sioux City, Cynthia Arnold of Dallas, Nicole (Steve) Gustin of Dakota City, one step daughter, Tracy Baker of Sioux City, one sister, Janelle (Carl) Teply of Elk Point, 12 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Richard Arnold, II, one grandchild, Kaylyn Denny two brothers, Jim Selken, and Jerry Selken.
