Viola Maxine Burns was born August 4, 1964 to the late Robert and Mary Kennedy Burns and gained her wings on May 20, 2022 at her home in Baton Rouge, LA. Viola was baptized in 1982 at the age of 18 by the late Reverend Chester Forest of True Light Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a graduate of Capitol High School; class of 1982 and furthered her education at Southern University, majoring in Computer Science. Viola also attended Delta College, studying Medical Billing and Coding. She was employed by Conduent for 9 years until her health declined. She enjoyed cooking, baking, photography, and spending time with her family and her two granddaughters whom she considered her "little girls." Viola leaves to treasure her memory, son, Eric Burns; daughter, Latasha Burns; granddaughters; Da'Aiyah Muhammad and Hailey Burns; grandson, Tyler Burns; stepmother, Cora Burns; sisters, Elvira Burns Smith, Jasylon Faye Burns, and Sandra (Brian) Bernard; stepsisters, Doris (Wilfred) Broden and Joyce (Eddie) Williams; stepbrother, Gary (Patricia) Aikens; devoted friends, Carol Jones and Kolby Davis; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Viola is preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandmother, Annie Bell; aunt, Lillian Kennedy who reared her; brothers, Robert Lee Burns, Clyde Howard Burns, and Jessie Burns; stepbrother, Lawrence Aikens; and nephew, Michael Wayne Burns. Viewing will be held on Saturday, June 4th from 8 am until service at 10 am at Desselle Funeral Home, 263 Eddie Robinson Sr. Dr., Baton Rouge.
