Graveside service will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Vann Windom will officiate. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb will be in charge of arrangements.
Richard was born on March 17, 1958 in Smithdale, MS. He was the son of Charles H. Butler and Frances Butler Varnado
Richard retired from the Oil Industry having worked over thirty years for various companies including Penrod Oil and Halliburton. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist church of Smithdale. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed Nascar racing, fishing, football (especially the Steelers). He enjoyed driving his John Deere tractor, eating fried chicken and was considered a "Grill Master" by his family. He was a comedian at heart and enjoyed classic rock music, ZZ Top being his favorite. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was proceeded in death by his father Charles H. Butler.
He is survived by his wife of twenty one happy years Gail Boyd Butler; his mother, Frances Butler Varnado; three daughters, Nikki Lynn Butler, Brandi Smith (Steve) and Brooke Flory (Will); one brother, William Caroll Butler (Debbie); two sisters, Charlotte Butler and Donna Girod; one grandchild, Michael Smith; sister-in-law, Linda Hunt with numerous nieces and nephews.
