Robert E. "Bob" Lawson, 90, a retired home builder, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at a local care center.
Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be David Adams, Jimmy Park, Jim Walker, Bobby Morris and Roy Tarwater.
Bob was born Oct. 11, 1917, in Fort Worth to Richard and Elizabeth Lawson. He was the ninth of 10 children and graduated from Carter Riverside High School. He met his future bride Jessie Ruth in 1940 and they married in 1941. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1945. After the military he went to work for Sabine Valley Lumber Company and then started his own business in 1968 building homes. He continued in that field until his retirement in 1983. His grandchildren, Courtney and Evan, were very dear to him and he cherished the time he spent with them. Bob's favorite pastime was his lake house at Eagle Mountain Lake. He really enjoyed crappie fishing, maintaining the lawn and general appearance of the property. It was always in immaculate condition. Bob was a longtime member of Diamond Oaks Country Club. His weekly foursome was something he always looked forward to. Bob will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lewis Lawson.
Survivors: Wife, Jessie Ruth Lawson; son, Richard Lawson and wife, Ann, of North Richland Hills; granddaughter, Courtney Head and husband, Joseph, of Dallas; grandson, Evan Lawson and fiancee, Shay Miska, of North Richland Hills; and sister, Jane Adams and husband, Bo, also of North Richland Hills.
