Kimberly A. Belcher, 57, of Madison Heights, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. She was born on June 11, 1964, in Bluefield, West Virginia, daughter of Douglas W. Belcher and the late Barbara E. Belcher. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Kevin Belcher.

While Kim suffered more than most in her lifetime, with a brain tumor at the age of 5, and later a massive stroke at the age of 35, she never let that stop her from enjoying her life to the absolute fullest. Kim is best described as joyful, funny, and absolutely selfless. To know her was to love her. Kim never failed to make any person she encountered smile. She had a knack for striking up conversations with total strangers and befriending them. She was a firm believer that every person had a story to tell, and that we should all listen.

Kim lived out the verse Matthew 25:40 "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." She was immensely selfless and giving. She would give the shirt off her back if someone was in need. She found joy in helping others and talking to people. That's why when it came to career choices, it was a no-brainer for her to become a hairdresser. She made a career out of what she loves best—chatting up a stranger and helping them feel beautiful. She worked in a salon for over 18 years; and she worked out of her home for friends and family after she became disabled due to the stroke.

Kim's greatest love was her family. There was nothing she loved more than to have everyone together for weekend cookouts, holidays, and Sunday dinners. Kim also enjoyed going on yearly family vacations to spend quality time with her parents, siblings, nieces, and nephew. She was a loving daughter, devoted sister, and crazy fun aunt who will be missed sorely.

Kimberly was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She loved getting out and going to church. It was always a place for her to reconnect with her friends and the Lord.

She is survived by her father, Douglas W. Belcher; a sister, Kristy Rene Godfrey as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 401 N Main Street, Amherst, Virginia. A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at the church with the Rev. Nancy C. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Fort
