Connie Gratney, age 80, Tonganoxie, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

A celebration of her life will be 2:30 p.m. Friday,
December 14 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons, Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas with a gathering of family and friends, 1:00-2:30 p.m. Friday at the chapel preceding the service. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

Connie was born on April 4, 1927, in Brumley, Missouri, the daughter of Thelma and Ralph Wall, and grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Rosedale High School in 1945. She married Burl R. Gratney, on December 21, 1946. Connie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She fought a courageous battle with rheumatoid arthritis for most of her adult life and was a role model for all with her determination, independence and devotion to others.

Survived by her son Mark and wife Linda Leavenworth, Kansas, son Richard and wife Annette of Paris, Texas, grandchildren Kelly Gratny Carlson and husband Eric, Maggie Jo Gratny, Dusten Gratny and wife Sara, Cody Gratny and wife Mindy, and Trisa Gratny. Connie also has one great grandson, William Wyatt Gratny. In addition she is survived by her brother W. Dean Wall and wife Karen of Olathe, Kansas, and nieces Joanna Wall and Jayme Nelson, husband Joe Ray and grand-nephew Sawyer Joseph.
Connie was preceded in death by grandson Kyle Lee Gratny.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Kyle Lee Gratny Memorial Scholarship at the KU Endowment, 3901 Rainbow Boulevard, Kansas City, Kansas 66160 or the Basehor United Methodist Church Capital Fund, 18660 158th Street, Bonner Springs, Kansas 66012.
