Mrs. James Goforth, sister of Mrs. G.W. Adams and Mrs. Everett Wilson of this place, died at her home near Richland, Mo. Sunday morning following a two weeks illness. She first suffered a severe attack of neuritis and this was followed by an almost continuous hiccupping until she passed away.
All her sisters and brothers were at her bedside during her sickness except Mrs. Brose Dickerson of West Palm Beach, Florida, who was unable to come on account of the serious illness of her husband. Mrs. Ottie Dupree and Mr. Arthur Gardner, however, were unable to remain for the funeral service, due to their taking ill.
Mrs. Goforth and her family formerly lived in Iberia, leaving here about 20 years ago. After leaving Iberia, Mr. Goforth was an employee
of the Crighton Provision Co. of Springfield for several years and later located on a farm near Richland, where Mrs. Goforth died.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Richland Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. Lehming, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Richland Cemetery under the direction of the Adams & Casey Funeral Home of Iberia.
Frances (Gardner) Goforth, daughter of the late Felix and Sarah Ellen Gardner, was born at Iberia, Mo., on March 14, 1872. She entered into
rest at her home near Richland, Mo., 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 23, 1941, at the age of 69 years and nine days.
On February 7, 1893, she was married to James F. Goforth and to them were born seven children-two daughters and five sons, namely: Mrs. Zella Evans of Richland, Mo.; Mrs. Della Minniford of Santa Barbara, Calif.; Frank, Vincent and George, all of Hartland, Maine, and Paul and David of Richland, MO.
She is survived by her husband and the seven children; five sisters and two brothers-Mrs. Geo. W. Adams of Iberia, Mo.; Mrs. Brose Dickerson of West Palm Beach, Florida; Mrs. Ottie Dupree of Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. Everett Wilson of Iberia, Mo.; Mrs. Walter Dickerson, Frank and Arthur Gardner, all of St. Louis; also 23 grandchildren and on great-grandchild.
At the age of 17 Mrs. Goforth was converted during a meeting at the Methodist Church in Iberia, Mo., and her life has been so lived among her family and many friends-plain and simple in her manners, true and faithful, loved and respected by all who knew her.
