He was born on June 21, 1923, the son of the late Bert and Clara (Allen) Watson.
John was united in marriage to Lorriane (Parker) Watson on December 8, 1949, and to this union one daughter, Clara, was born.
John was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Piggott, Arkansas, and a member of American Legion Post 38. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1946 aboard the USS Otis as a SK2/c where he was awarded the following Medals: Philipine Liberation, Asiatic - Pacific Campaign 1 Bronze Star, and Victory. John was a Master Mason and member of Eastern Star Lodge #207. He owned Watson Brother's Oil Company retiring in 1978.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorriane Betty Parker Watson; daughter, Clara Lynn Watson; father, Bert Lee Watson; mother, Clara Bell Watson; sisters, Eva Norene Watson and Myrtle Mae Watson Satterfield; and brothers, William "Bill" Otis Watson, Doyle "Ken" Allen Watson, James "Fat" Franklin Watson, Norman "Pete" Leon Watson, and Bert "Jr." Lee Watson II.
John is survived by his sisters, Neva Nadine Watson of Piggott, Arkansas, Shelba Jean Watson Lewis of O'Fallon, Missouri, and Shirley Dean Watson Satterfield of St. Peters, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home with a graveside service following at 11:00 am at Piggott Cemetery in Piggott, Arkansas, with Bro. John Hiegel officiating. Pallbearers will be Chase Watson, Chad Watson, Brady Watson, Jacob Watson, John Watson, and Tim Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Rogers and Darrell Gossett. Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home of Piggott, Arkansas, is in charge of the arrangements.
