Nancy Jo Hale Matthews, 84, of Gun Barrel City, TX passed away Sunday May 15, 2022 after a 3-year battle against cancer. She was born in Frisco, TX on September 25, 1937. Her parents were Lonnie Hale and Jessie Alexander Hale of Frisco, TX.
Nancy is preceded in death by her Father, Mother, her Brothers Granville Hale, Billy Jack Hale, Bob Hale, Wendell Hale, husband Cooper Matthews, Son Billy Don Farley and Daughter Tracy Ellwood Willis.
She was married to Cooper (Chet) Matthews of Morley, MO for 20 years. She and Chet traveled all over the state of Texas selling insurance, up until his passing on December 14, 2007. These two soul mates loved to talk and being on the road together. They were often away for weeks at a time, making memories. "Let's hit the road, baby" made her smile. She is survived by her son Walter Ellwood, Daughter in Law Connie Ellwood of Allen, TX and Son Herbert Ellwood, Daughter in Law Shannon Ellwood of Pflugerville, TX, her Sister Agatha Hale Chandler of Frisco, TX, 6 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in her honor on Tuesday June 7, 2022 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX where she will be laid to rest with her soul mate.
