Joyce Ann (Ringley) Simon, age 79, of Rogersville, went to be with her Lord on May 17, 2022 in Kingsport, TN.

Joyce was born to Tom and Laura (Presley) Ringley on June 23, 1942. She attended Rogersville High School and earned an associate degree from Prince George's Community College. She married Kenneth J. Simon on October 6, 1962, in Brandywine, Maryland.

Before her marriage, Joyce, along with her sister Betty, worked for the FBI. Later, Joyce would work as a medical office manager and became a founding member of the Clinton, Maryland's "Lunch Bunch", a life-long group of friends who enjoyed themselves in all sorts of activities over the years. Joyce was an excellent cook and was considered an aficionado at entertaining.

Following the passing of her husband, Joyce returned to her beloved hometown. She reconnected with childhood friends and quickly joined the "Meet to Eat" club. This group of friends became multi-generational and enjoyed many adventures both locally and on trips over the mountain. Joyce enjoyed many challenging and rewarding positions after returning to Rogersville including working at Holston Electric Cooperative, becoming the Office Manager for the ETSU Physicians, and ending her career as the Chief Medical Officer's Executive Assistant for Rural Health Services Consortium. Joyce was known for her devoted work ethic and tenaciousness. She enjoyed working alongside many medical professionals, Dr. Mark Dalle-Ave, Dr. Jose' Velasco and Nurse Joyce Carter especially. Her devotion to her craft would lead to many life-long friendships. She was especially endeared to those friends and family that she assisted during medical challenges. Joyce was fiercely loyal to her friends and beliefs.

Joyce considered herself a patriot and public servant, serving her community in many capacities. She served as a school board member of the Rogersville City School System, a member of the Hawkins County Health Council, Committee Chairman Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Rogersville Historic Preservation Commission, and a board member for the Rogersville Heritage Association. At the time of her passing, she was an active member of the Hawkins County Republican Women, and a current Chairman of the Hawkins County Election Commission. Joyce's faith in Christ was apparent to all and she was an active member of the Rogersville First Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents Tom and Laura Ringley, and her loving husband Kenny Simon.

She is survived by her daughter Kelly Simon Nichols and her husband Greg, and her sister Betty Ringley Reed and her husband Jim, several nieces and nephews, and many deeply cherished friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Rogersville. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery with Pastor Trey Meek officiating.

Pallbearers will be Rick Linkous, Donnie Harris, Matthew Johnson, Greg Nichols, and the Deacons from First Baptist Church of Rogersville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Rogersville First Baptist Church.
