Maria Elida Gomez, (Ella) 86, of Humble, TX, passed away surrounded by her children and grandchildren, on May 14, 2022, in Houston, TX.
Maria was born in Progresso, Tx to Francisco G. Cavazos and Carlota Krummel Cavazos on January 24, 1936. She was the oldest of two and grew up in Brownsville, Tx, side by side, hand in hand with her beloved younger brother and cousins. She attended Brownsville High School and soon after on November 24, 1955, she married her husband Francisco Gomez, Jr. Together they were blessed with five children. They built their early life in Chicago and eventually moved to Houston, Tx in 1970 when their oldest, Diane, was 14 years old.

Maria was a devout Catholic, loving wife, devoted, prayerful mother, and hard worker, doing whatever it took to make sure her family was always well taken care of. She humbly and proudly worked various jobs in the food service industry throughout her working years until she retired from Chelsea Catering with Continental Airlines. After retirement, her life's focus surrounded around loving and praying for her family. She enjoyed attending family functions, watching her Novellas and her sweets. Ella never forgot a family members birthday and made sure she called to wish everyone special birthday wishes. Her greatest joys in life were the various victories and successes of her children and grandchildren. Through the years Maria was a constant pillar of strength and prayer as her family continued to grow. With every challenge that came, she was right there as her children's biggest supporter and source of unconditional love for all. Maria Elida (Ella) will be greatly missed and will forever remain in our hearts.

Maria is survived by her children, Daughter Diane Gomez, Sons Frank J.
