Don graduated from Keenesburg High School with the Class of 1951. On September 4, 1953, he married Mary Ellen Dale in Killeen, Texas while he was serving in the Army. He was later stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Upon completion of his military service, he farmed in the Keenesburg area until his retirement in 1999.
Don was a member of the church of Christ in Windsor, CO. He taught Sunday classes for many years. During his farming career, he was very active in the local Soil Conservation Program.
Don is survived by his four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren, a brother, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ellen, his sister Ileene, brothers Virgil, William, Dayton and Otis, and grandson Ryan Dobbs.
