Dessil Ray Creasy, age 76, of the Apple Grove Community of Barbourville, was born on January 29, 1933 in Tway, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Denvil E. Taylor, Sr. and Lillie (Moore) Taylor. Mrs. Creasy died on Sunday morning December 20, 2009 at her residence.

Mrs. Creasy was a retired Assistant Administrator for the Knox County Health Department where she had worked for over 39 years; and a Member and former Church Clerk of the Apple Grove Baptist Church.

In 1954, she united in marriage to Howard S. (Bige) Creasy, and to this union, one daughter: Martha Ann, and three sons: Robert D., Howard Thomas and Samuel Ray were born.

Mrs. Creasy was preceded in death by her Parents: Denvil E. Taylor, Sr. and Lillie (Moore) Taylor; Her Husband: Howard S. (Bige) Creasy; Her Son: Robert D. Creasy; Her two Sisters: Dorlea Buchanan and Ruby Collins; Her three Sisters-in-law: Thurza Buchanan, Marjorie Creasy and Ruth Creasy; Her four Brothers-in-law: Roger Deaton, Lowell Buchanan, Charles Creasy and George Buchanan; and Her three Nephews: John Robert Buchanan, David Taylor Deaton and Terry Patrick Collins.

Mrs. Creasy is survived by her loving family: Her Daughter: Martha Ann Creasy of Barbourville; Her Sons: Howard Thomas Creasy of Corbin, and Samuel Ray Creasy and Wife, Lisa of Girdler.
Her Beloved Granddaughter: Samantha Nicole Creasy of Girdler. Her three Cherished Grandsons: Samuel Keith Creasy of Girdler and his Fiancee' Tiffany Mayo; Howard Samuel Creasy, and and James (Jay) Harrison Creasy both of Corbin. Her three Sisters: Betty Sue Deaton of Heidrick; Lillie Joyce King and Husband, Wesley and Alma Faye Campbell and Husband, Glenn both of the Walker Park Road. Her Brother: Rev. Denvil E. Taylor, Jr. and Wife, Louella of Cannon. Her Brother-in-law: Glenn (Doc) Collins of Middltown, Ohio; and a host of Nieces and Nephews, and other Relatives and Friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Dessil Ray Creasy will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Denvil E. Taylor, Jr. and Rev. Carl Gallion Officiating. Burial will follow in the Mayhew Cemetery at Sharp's Gap. Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Donnie Martin, Michael Deaton, Roger Dale Deaton, Jerry Campbell, Wesley Lee King, George Collins, Jonathon Collins, Vincent Patterson and Michael Patterson. Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: All current and former Employees of the Knox County Health Department, The Knox County Home Health, Wesley King, Glenn (Doc) Collins, Glenn Campbell, Michael Collins, Rick Gambrel, and Special Thanks to Dr. Richard Carter and Staff, and her Caregivers: Barbara Gambrel, Janie Bargo, Pat Hensley and Cathy Grubb. The Creasy family will recieve freinds after 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral Home. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
