Lynda Lucy Jensen, born September 5, 1946 in Thedford, Nebraska, was released from her human frailty and entered into eternal health September 1, 2017, at 1:45 pm, at her home in El Cajon, California at the age of 70 years, 11 months, 27 days.

Lynda graduated from Fullerton High School in 1964. She went on to earn her registered nursing license from Methodist School of Nursing in Omaha, NE in 1967. She dedicated her career to be a labor and delivery nurse for 30 years. She retired from Sharp Grossmont Hospital of La Mesa, CA. in 2000.

She suffered from an auto-immune disease for the past 30+ years that attacked her organs. She had a double-lung transplant six years ago and defied the odds of organ rejection since then.

A Christ-follower, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, encourager, avid card-maker, and constant supporter, Lynda remained committed to letting everyone know they have an intrinsic worth, because they were created with a purpose.

Even though we shed tears of sadness, we stand firm in the knowledge of redemption that is found only in our Savior Jesus Christ.

Survivors cherishing Lynda's memory are: husband Paul; children and spouses Jody and Phil Human, Carie and Keith Breneman, Julie Jensen and Penny Fulmer, Robert and Priscilla Jensen; grandchildren: Megan Breneman, Becca Human, Tim Human, Skylar Jensen, Jared Breneman, Josh Human, and Leif Jensen; brother Robert Lucy; sisters-in-law: Lois Pedersen and Lydia Dix; nieces, nephews and cousins; and many, many precious friends.

Lynda is preceded in death by her father, Ira Karl Lucy, mother, Elsie (Wirz) Lucy, brother-in-law, Leroy Pedersen, and sister-in-law, Cheri Lucy.

If you are not an organ donor, please sign up to do so. You will be offering an extended period of life to someone special.

The Celebration of Life Service will take place at Shadow Mountain Community Church, located at 2100 Greenfield Drive, El Cajon, CA. at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 9, 2017. A reception will follow in the Events Center.

Additionally, as per Lynda's wishes, we will be holding a separate Celebration of Life Service in Nebraska, on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Zabka Funeral Home, 410 Jackson Avenue, Seward Nebraska. If you would like to place a tribute to Lynda, you may do so on her Facebook page or on the following website: www.zabkafuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers, Lynda requested that you support the causes that were a passion for her:

Lung & Heart Transplant Foundation
PO Box 22069
San Diego, CA 92129-2069

www.lunghearttransplantfoundation.org

This is an organization started by several lung and heart transplant recipients that Lynda knows from the UCSD Transplant Support Group. They recognized the need to help recipients of transplants with the tremendous expenses of medications and other items that are life-long and life-giving necessities. Lynda loved these local San Diego people and the service they provide to fellow recipients.

Lynda was highly invested in SDCC, supporting students financially, spiritually, and physically. She enjoyed attending many tennis matches and other events. She loved this college that began as Christian Heritage College and later changed its name to San Diego Christian College. This school has produced missionaries and professionals in so many areas that have scattered across the Earth to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was recently most impressed with the needs of international students who come here to study and find very little or no financial support from the typical sources like federal and state grants and student loans. Yet, they share in the expenses that every student faces. Helping them was a passion for her.
