Dorothea "Dort" Irene (Burseth) Anibas, 79, died peacefully Sunday morning, Jan. 13, 2008, at Luther Hospital with her husband and children by her side.

Dort was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Rock Falls to Ingeman and Esther (Wold) Burseth. She graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1946. Dort was blessed in marriage to Andrew L. Anibas Jr. in 1949 at St. Patrick's Church in Eau Claire by Father Brady. She was a member of St. Theresa's Group of the St. Ann's Society at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Dort was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She had many friends, and was loved for her home cooking. During her life, she worked at American National Bank and the telephone company before she had her five children, and then stayed at home to care for them. She was the bookkeeper for Andy's Drywall, and cared for many neighbor children. She was an avid bluegill angler, Scrabble player and Packers fan. Dort spent her summers in Chetek with Andy and many friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Dort is survived by her husband of 58 years, Andrew; two sons, Jim (Margaret) of Anchorage, Alaska, and Tom (Judi) of Eau Claire; three daughters, Kari (Dennis) Gilroy of Lincoln, Mo., Suzie (Larry) of Boise, Idaho, and Kelly (Ken) Lee of Greenwood, Minn.; six grandchildren, Ellie (Walter) Eunice of Eagle River, Alaska, Cassie Anibas of Anchorage, Alaska, Johanna Overholser of Boise, Idaho, Grace Gilroy of Lincoln, Mo., and Keaton and Karson Lee of Greenwood, Minn.; one great-grandchild, Faith Hana, of Eagle River, Alaska; one brother, Gordon (Janice) Burseth, of Huntley, Ill.; cousins, nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ingeman Pedar and Esther Elisabeth (Wold) Burseth; and a brother, James Burseth, of Holmen.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. William A. Dhein officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Eau Claire.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. There will be a 7 p.m. public prayer service Thursday at the funeral home.
