John (Jack) William Ford, 90, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2022. He was born on May 30, 1931 in Mexico, Missouri, to William Ford, MD, and Helen Graves Ford.

Jack grew up in Lewisburg, PA. After attending Bucknell University for two years, he received an appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point where he was captain of the Rifle Team and received a Bachelor of Science in Maritime Transportation. Upon graduating he received an officer's commission in the US Navy where he served for 22 years on active duty and in the Naval Reserves, achieving the rank of Commander. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving overseas on three deployments during the conflict.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda, his daughters Leslee Ford Kiernan (Don), Susan Ford, grandsons, Jack and Ryan Kiernan, his first cousin, Carol Jane Bryant and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jack was a life-long St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved sports of all kinds, but baseball was his passion. Stan Musial #6 was his favorite player of all time.

His many hobbies included playing golf, target shooting and playing the saxophone in the Clay County Community Band for many years. He loved playing patriotic marching music and was a proud American. Jack was also a Distinguished Expert with the National Rifle Association and a member for decades.

A memorial service will take place at Mandarin United Methodist Church, 11270 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL at 10 AM on Wednesday May 25, 2022, with a short visitation with the family after the service. The burial will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL at 1:30 PM.
