On Wednesday, May 4, 2022, Thomas Leslie Sullivan, loving husband, father, and Papa of four children and 8 grandchildren passed away at the age of 84.
Tom was born, February 9th, 1938, in Newport, RI to Leslie & Beatrice Sullivan. He grew up in the Fifth Ward and graduated from De La Salle Academy in 1955. Tom joined the United States Marine Corps upon graduation and went on to become an executive with Allstate Insurance for more than 30 years.
On June 10th, 1961, he married Maureen Catherine Moore at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Washington, DC. Tom and Maureen moved to Northern, VA and raised one son, Patrick and three daughters, Kate, Shannon and Meaghan.
At a young age, Tom exceled in sports becoming the RI tennis state champion in 1955. Later in life, Tom became an avid golfer winning several local tournaments. He enjoyed watching his Washington Caps, Boston Red Sox, spending time at the beach, long walks and most importantly, spending time with his 8 grandchildren. He was known for his beautiful smile, wonderful sense of humor and great taste in music.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Leslie, mother, Beatrice and sister, Barbara. He is survived by his wife, Maureen, his four children, Patrick, Kate, Shannon Meaghan, his sister, Betsy, brother Billy and eight grandchildren, Brooke, Catherine, Morgan, Reilly, Michael, Thomas, Joseph Patrick and Jack.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 13th, 2022, at Saint Andrews Church, 6720 Union Mill Rd. Clifton, VA 20124 - 11:30 am with burial following, Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Rd. Fairfax, VA. 22032 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Parkinson's Foundation.
