He was born on March 17, 1962, in Bethesda, Maryland, a son of the late Marion Linwood Long and Maude Helen (Marlin) Long.
John was strong in faith and was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He had a heart for those in need and was always lending a hand at HALO. In addition to devoting his time and compassion to others, John also enjoyed collecting antique car models as a hobby.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dianna Long of Laurel, DE; a daughter, Sarah Adelaide Long of Tall Timbers, MD; siblings, Thomas Long and Dennis Long of Stanton, VA, Jean Reble of SC, and Marian Long of Salisbury, MD; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Daisy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Long, and brothers, Ronnie Long and Richard Elwood Long.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Park Seventh-day Adventist Church, 31525 John Deere Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Cesar Gonzalez will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Andrews Episcopal Cemetery in Princess Anne, Maryland.
