Mrs. Helen Turner Mitchell, age 87, of Adairsville, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, May 17, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Bartow County, February 9, 1935, daughter of the late Thomas R. Turner and Dessie Green Turner. She was a member of Oothcalooga Baptist Church and loved the Lord. Helen enjoyed working the family farm with her late husband, Horton and going to the barn to feed her horses and German Shepherds. She made several beautiful quilts and ceramics over the years and was a phenomenal cook. She loved her family, especially her grandsons, "The Boys". She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton Horton Mitchell; son, Charles Greg Mitchell, Sr. and brother, Charles T. Turner.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane (Hamp) Alexander; grandchildren, Greg (Jennifer) Mitchell, Kyle Mitchell, Trey (Christy) Alexander, Phillip (Kelly) Alexander, and Autumn (Randy) Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Charles Gregory Mitchell, III, Reece Alexander, Lucy Alexander, and Hudson Alexander; daughter-in-law, Shelia Mitchell; special friend, Joy Thacker and caretaker, Tamela Anton.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 20, 2022, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Barton Funeral Home, Adairsville with Rev. Adam Toole officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ross Strickland, Barron Baker, Chad Childers, Brandan Mealer, Kent Womack, and Sammy Simmons.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Barton Funeral Home.
R. Dudley Barton & Son Funeral Home, Adairsville, will be in charge of funeral arrangements for Mrs. Helen Turner Mitchell.
