John J. Pawlik, 96, of Scranton, died Saturday at Linwood Nursing Home. His wife, Agnes Pawlik, passed away in 2014.

Born in Scranton, son of the late John and Maria Dzrasdovina Pawlik, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of St. Ann's Basilica. Prior to retirement, he was employed by A&P Bakery, Murray Corp. and Supermarket Services. John was a devoted member of St. Ann's and their Novena, where he was employed and also volunteered many hours throughout the years. A United States Air Force veteran and member of the Teamsters Local 229, John was an avid New York Yankees and Penn State fan.

Surviving are his son, Craig Pawlik and wife, Kathy, Taylor; nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, John; brother, Walter Pawlik; and sisters, Olga Pawlik and Kate Tini.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Basilica. Interment with military honors, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore; or Tracy's Hope, Duryea.
