Bobbie came to California in 1955 were she resided until her passing. She attended San Bernardino Valley College and became fond of the archery and tennis classes she chose as part of her physical fitness requirements. In 1976, she earned her Associate Arts degree in Secretarial Science, while raising her 7 children. She joined and became a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev David Campbell and was a member of various choirs; and was active in various departments and events. She has held the positions of Sunday School Superintendent, Sanctuary Choir Vice President, and was an office holder and member of the church's Circle groups.
Bobbie worked for the San Bernardino City Unified School District and held many positions, her last position held when she retired was the principal's secretary at Dr. Howard D. Ingram Elementary School (formerly Muscott Elementary). She was loved, respected, and appreciated by staff, teachers, students, and parents. She was also honored as a recipient of the district's 2nd Annual Golden Apple Award in 1996. Bobbie enjoyed working with school children and wanted to make a difference in their life through encouragement, emotional support, and kind words of advice and ensuring them that they can achieve great things through hard work and dedication.
Her community involved also include San Bernardino City Senior Affairs and Fire Commissions
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, sons Jason LeMon Bradley, Daryl Andrè Rodgers, Sr.; grandson Deivon Cassidy McGee; brother Xavier Jones, Jr.; sister Mae Jewel "Mary" Cranford; Anna Lee (Loudermilk-Jones) Carlson, Josephine (Isaiah-Jones) Boyd.
She leaves to cherish her memory; Sister Rose Merthie ;three daughters Sharon Yvonne Rodgers-Watson, San Bernardino CA; Kim Yvette Rodgers-McGee, Longview TX and Brigitte C. Bradley-Kilpatrick (Dexter), Victorville CA; two sons: Arlington C. Rodgers, Jr. (Gwendolyn) and Derek K. Rodgers, Sr. (Lynn); 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, special families the Clarks (Nicole (Kenny), Kenny Jr., Kyon, Kennise and Kennia) and friends.
