Obituary
"Audra Anita Haggerty-Whitaker was born on January 30, 1950, in Longview, Texas, to Pervis Haggerty and the late Juanita Haggerty. She was the only daughter and the second of five children born to their union. Audra, age 70, departed this life at 9:17 in the morning of May 5, 2020, with her husband, whom she loved dearly, by her side, at her home in Point, Texas.

Audra spent the last few years enjoying the country life, as she called it, in Point, Texas, where she enjoyed the serene sounds of nature and going on rides with her husband around their property. Prior to moving there, she also lived in various places in Texas, including Longview, Dallas, Garland and Richardson.

Audra attended Mary C. Womack High School where she was a cheerleader, member of the National Honor Society, Art Club, and Hi-Fi Society, as well as a graduate of the class of 1967. She received her Bachelor's Degree from North Texas State University and her Master's Degree from University of Texas at Arlington. She was a successful HR Executive at Rockwell International for over 20 years before retiring. Audra loved playing tennis in her younger years, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and collecting "All God's Children" figurines and an assortment of beautiful angels just like the angel she was to us. Above all, she was a devout Christian who loved the Lord.

Audra, also lovingly known to many as Audra Nita or simply Nita, is survived by her husband, Carland Whitaker, of Point; her father, Pervis Haggerty, of Longview; her brothers, Paul Haggerty, of Fort Worth, Larry Haggerty (wife, Pamela), of Longview, Terry Haggerty (wife, Debra), of Houston, and Jerry Haggerty, of McKinney; several grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; two godsons; three stepchildren; two uncles; one aunt; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leroy and Marguerite Whitaker, of Dallas; a brother-in-law and his wife; and a host of other relatives, former co-workers and friends who loved her dearly.

Audra is loved, respected and adored by both her family and her friends. She is now resting in perfect peace with God, our Father, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will be forever loved, remembered and missed by all who knew her. God Bless you, Audra Nita."
