Mrs. Z. Elizabeth Rowe, 85, widow of H. Mervin Rowe, formerly of 13 W. North St., died at 5 a.m. today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Evelyn R. Hockensmith, 127 E. Main St. Mrs. Rowe had been in failing health since April 1969 and was confined to her bed for the past five months.

She was born in Antrim Township July 31, 1885, daughter of the late John and Rebecca Teeter Maun. Most of her life was lived in Waynesboro.

She and Mr. Rowe were married in April 1907 and for a number of years operated a grocery store on West Main Street.

Mr. Rowe died in June 1954 and Mrs. Rowe had made her home with her daughter for the past two years.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Surviving are four children: Harold L. Rowe and Mrs. Evelyn Hockensmith, both of Waynesboro; Donald R. Rowe, Brookmont, Md. and Gerald M. Rowe, Falls Church, Va. Mrs. Rowe is also survived by 10 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Maude Dailey, Waynesboro and two brothers, John B. Maun, Chambersburg and J. Snively Maun, Waynesboro.
