After completing his military Doug resided in Littleport working in roofing, painting, and hauling U.S. mail until his retirement in 1996.
Doug was united in marriage to Lerene (Thein) Frieden on December 5, 1969, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport. Two children were born to this union.
Doug died on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader, after a sudden illness. He was seventy-three years of age. Doug enjoyed cards/gambling, fishing, hunting, trapping, gardening, watching T.V., feeding wild birds, and his house cats.
Survivors include his wife, Lerene Clinton of Edgewood; his two children, Tracy Clinton Ezerski and her husband Paul of Clive; and Branch Clinton of Edgewood; two step-children, Brad (Brenda) Frieden of Strawberry Point and Gregg (Linda) Frieden of Elkader; four grandchildren, Kaiya Ezerski, Ryan (Chelsea) Frieden, Katie (Kevin) Kline, and Jamie (Jason) Hillers; one step-grandchild, Shanna Berger; five great-grandchildren; three half-brothers, Bill (Betty) Balluff and Jim (Rosie) Balluff both of Las Vegas, and Jerry Balluff of New Plymouth, Idaho; and a sister, Norma of Idaho.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; and a step-daughter, Colleen Frieden.
